Matrix Partnership has been commissioned by Ireland’s broadcasting company, Radio Telefis Eireann (RTE), to form part of team to prepare a masterplan for the re-provision of new radio and television broadcast and production facilities relating to its Donnybrook Campus in Dublin.

The new plan will ensure that RTE’s move to digital technology is complimented by state of the art facilities with landmark site layout, landscape and building design. The masterplan will form the basis of agreements with Dublin City Council to secure high quality urban development in this part of Dublin. Detailed planning applications prepared by the team will be informed by the overall masterplan and ensure new facilities are in place for Ireland’s coverage of the 2012 Olympics.

Early investigations into the area identified the need to sensitively address the surrounding residential context whilst at the same time delivering a landmark institutional facility. The new campus plan was also to respond to several Listed structures, mature landscape araes and utilise, where possible, existing quality RTE buildings. Unique urban design solutions emerged to creatively address all these issues in the round.
