Comprehensive development scheme proposals establish how the continued growth and regeneration of Dalston’s Community and Creative Quarter (CCQ) are to be realised over the coming years. These:

– identify a feasible potential future Chelsea Hackney Line/Crossrail 2 (CHL) station design integrated with the existing Dalston Junction Overground Station; and

– establish sketch designs for each of the Council-owned sites, including expansion of the Arcola Theatre.

While the Council supports a CHL station in Dalston, the ‘Area of Surface Interest’ safeguarding that had been associated with this inhibited the Council from delivering the CCQ vision and implied acquisition and demolition of various heritage buildings.

Alternative designs for the station and its associated infrastructure were therefore prepared that satisfi ed the Crossrail technical requirements, reduced surface-level land-take and enabled the Council to optimise development of their land holdings.
