Communities and Neighbourhoods in Planning Scheme. December 2011
Matrix Partnership has been working with The Princes Foundation in facilitating a series of workshops with community organistions and local authorities across the country. The Department of Comminities and Local Government (DCLG) has set up a Communities and Neighbourhoods in Planning Scheme supported by a grant of £800,000 to encourage more discussion between planners and local people. The grant provides local communities with support free of charge to address local issues and to eventually better their local area. To date the practice has delivered two very successful workshops in Wolverhampton and Birmingham encouraging local communities to take greater civic responsibility and resulting in robust actions plans from which further work can be developed. The workshops take one of three forms from 1-day assistance with disputed planning proposals to 3-day Enquiry-by-Design events where proposals are drawn up to reflect community aspirations alongside planning and developer expectations. |
